New Consultant Welcome Packs - Help them get the best start
New member welcome packs are a supportive welcome to any team and are super important when a new consultant starts their journey with you. It is important that your new consultant gets off to a great start and I find that when people feel like they are immediately part of a family, they become more engaged, more interactive, more willing to jump in headfirst and get their FM perfume business moving and earning some money.
Your consultant will not only feel supported by you, but he/she will love the support they get from the entire team and will know he/she has all the resources they need to get moving before they even order their kit.
So what do I give my new members?
Please note - not everyone who signs up and joins my direct frontline team will get one of these packs, they are only given to those who have reached out to me, have responded to their welcome email and for those who have shared with me their reasons for starting their business, these are the ones that will get these starter packs and the same goes for ex-consultants starting back and have re-joined and have signed up to work with me, they will get their welcome back pack for the same above reasons.
I have learned the hard way and everyone who joined me personally were sent a welcome pack with a brochure, samples, flyers, print outs and guess what, they did absolutely nothing but cost me a pretty fortune!
Please don’t fall into the same trap I fell down. You don’t need to spend a fortune. The truth is when we first start in this industry, we all want to give our new consultants the world. You will fill a folder full of endless printed documents, tons of charts, lists, letters and cards but in all reality that pretty little folder will most probably, end up in the trash.
We must keep this business simple. That is why we got into it right?
I stopped giving everyone, everything and focussed on making sure that my welcome email which is a ‘one-stop training tool’ goes out to every single new member and within minutes or hours of joining the team (I am a super stickler for getting the info to them asap, Its what I would expect myself).
The next thing is I actually stopped giving brochures out and a zillion samples to those that didn’t really need them. I decided I would only send what would fit in a C5 envelope and made them super affordable, simple and duplicatable for my team and to those who reached out to me for training and support.
You see, whatever you do in your business for one person, you should be able to do for 1000, 10,000 and it should be easy to duplicate by your team. When a new consultant first joins, they don’t have hundreds of pounds to spend on shiny jiffy envelopes, printing labels and documents, adding in costly brochures and whatever else (they can purchase them later).
Remember, if this business isn’t easy, people will quit for the simple fact…they just don’t believe they can do it or they can afford it. Keep it simple. Make everyone see that you don’t have to be big and extravagant to make an impact on someone new. New Consultants Welcome Packets that are big, expensive, and bulky aren’t going to make a bit of difference in your business. Personal connection and attention are what will build your team culture and points in the system.
I need to also mention that I do NOT send welcome packs to my second line and beyond, their own sponsors do this, but it’s totally an individual thing - I just love knowing how much they help people who really want your help and connect from the minute they get your welcome email training.
What I include in my Welcome Packets
A Welcome Letter. I created this using word and it prints out two to an A4 sheet & there you can handwrite both their name and personalise with yours.
Who are FM document - this can be framed for events or shown to friends and a brilliant piece of reading for any new member who is about to start their journey as a perfume consultant.
Price list, which shows all the products, the wholesale prices and the points value of each product for the current brochure (which are changed twice a year).
5x fragrance samples, sometimes I drop in a 5ml product sample, but sometimes not. It all depends on what I have at hand. I also add a printed fragrance guide as many people still do not have access to a home printer.
10x Vouchers - I love to give a few vouchers to all new members so they can give these to their friends to help start their order coming in and these are super in-expensive to purchase from our companies back office/online shop.
5x Fragrance sticks (x70 for 90p) - I split these up and send one sheet of five sticks. Again, super affordable to duplicate or you can even make your own by printing onto som A4 card! These sticks will help your new member promote the samples they have just received and are super affordable to pop in the post with a 1st class stamp. Just pop the sample on, write the number down on the stick and mail it (lasts about 3 days, so great for posting).
x7 Order forms, again these are a great incentive (like with catalogue parties) you want the hostess to use all the forms, just like a new member, the sooner they are ordering and seeing the profit the stronger their passion will develop and will really grow a business. A pack of order forms will cost you 80p for a carbon book of 25 sheets.
Finally, in their bundle, they get a few product flyers (again super inexpensive) and a company pamphlet so they can read the basics and feel a bit more confident that they joined an amazing company from day one.
I then pop these in a C5 jiffy envelope and post as a first-class large letter (so don’t make them to thick or then the postage costs rise, if this happens choose to sign up and use PARCEL2GO (they use myhermes but quote you a better price)
My new consultants absolutely love their welcome packs. They are simple, quick and easy to make up. They aren’t bombarded by a full binder full of information which will cause them to feel overwhelmed or even worse thinking, “How can I build a team, I don’t know how to do all this.” with their pack, they can see how simple it is and they then remember this feeling and can soon be doing the same for their own first team member that also sent them a message to say they were looking forward to starting their journey with you and the team!
The aim of these packs is to help your new member get started and give them a helping hand until they can place their own order within 10-days and then they can access the huge 60% off rrp new member discounts. From day two or three of joining they have some samples in their hands to see their quality and will also feel much more confident in promoting the products to friends and family.
